OUR BOATS: GET SUM & IVY SEA
Q: Does your boat have a bathroom?
A: Yep — we’ve got a marine toilet onboard the Get Sum, so you’re covered for those longer fishing trips in Ocean City’s coastal bays. It’s not fancy, but it’s clean and it works — and that’s what matters when you’re out on the water!
Q: Do you provide drinks?
A: We don’t supply drinks, but you’re welcome to bring your own cooler stocked with water, juice, soda — whatever keeps you cool. It gets sunny out on the bay, so be sure to stay hydrated during your Ocean City fishing charter.
Q: Do you have protection from the elements?
A: Yes! During the summer, the Get Sum Charter Boat has a shaded top to protect you from the hot sun. In the fall, we remove it for tautog season, and when rockfish season kicks in during winter, we add drop sides for extra protection. No matter the season, I’ve got you covered — literally.
Q: What kind of on-board help do you provide?
A: My mate and I are there to make your trip easy and fun. We’ll bait hooks, assist with casting, untangle lines, clean your fish, and help however you need. But if you want to take a hands-on approach and do it yourself — go for it! This is your Ocean City fishing experience, and we’ll support your style.
Q: What’s included in your trip rates?
A: All Ocean City fishing trips include:
-
Your boat charter and crew
-
All bait, tackle, and rods
-
Fish cleaning back at the dock
-
Non-alcoholic drinks on board
Just note: Tips for the mate are not included, and they’re always appreciated for great service!
Q: Can we bring alcohol?
A: You can absolutely bring a few cold ones — beer is welcome, but no glass bottles are allowed on the boat. Cans only, please. This helps us keep the deck safe and clean for everyone, especially during family fishing trips.
Q: What time should we be at the dock?
A: Plan to arrive at the Ocean City Fishing Center in West OC about 10–15 minutes before your scheduled departure. That gives us time to load gear, snap a few pictures, and push off right on time — especially important during the busy summer season.
Q: What should we bring?
A: Here’s a quick packing list for your OCMD fishing trip:
-
Sunscreen and sunglasses
-
Drinks and snacks (small cooler welcome)
-
A hat, light clothes, and maybe a layer for wind or spray
-
A camera or smartphone for photos
-
Comfortable non-marking shoes
Bring what keeps you comfy — we provide everything else.
Q: Do kids have to wear life jackets?
A: Kids aren’t required to wear life jackets during the trip, but we’ve got them on board and ready. If you prefer to bring your own or want your child to wear one, no problem — your comfort and safety are always top priority on our charters.
Q: What should we wear?
A: For fishing in Ocean City’s bays, wear light clothing in the summer and bring a light jacket or hoodie, just in case. Weather can change, especially when we’re cruising out near the inlet or wrecks. Dress smart, stay cool, and you’ll have a great time.
Q: What kind of shoes should we wear?
A: Please wear non-marking shoes — that means no dark-soled sneakers or heavy boots. Deck shoes, light-colored sneakers, or flip-flops work best for a day on the Get Sum or Ivy Sea.
Q: Do we need a fishing license?
A: Nope! When you book a charter fishing trip in Ocean City, MD with Get Sum Charters, our license covers everyone onboard. You just show up and fish — we’ve got the paperwork handled.
Q: Can we bring small children?
A: Absolutely! We love seeing young anglers out there. Just remember that every person counts toward the 6-passenger limit, even infants and toddlers. Let us know ahead of time and we’ll make sure everything is ready.
Q: Can we bring our dog?
A: Yep — well-behaved family dogs are welcome to join the trip! Just make sure they’re comfortable around water and boat movement. We want them to enjoy the day as much as you do.
